Introducing the carbohydrate resilience (CarbR®) test: understand and potentially improve your metabolic health

CarbR® is a medical-grade test designed for most non-diabetic or pre-diabetic adults, with few contra-indications (eg. low BMI, certain medical conditions or medications).

Why CarbR®?

  • Type 2 diabetes and increasing BMI are increasing, in part due to lifestyle and food choices.

  • Glucose dysregulation and unhealthy weight gain are important modifiable risk factors for future heart disease, therefore identifying issues before heart disease develops is an attractive prevention strategy

  • By collecting together information about your food and lifestyle choices, BMI knowledge of risk factors family history and glucose and blood lipid profile, the medical team can advise on your personal risk

  • Self-refer: not all people have access to medical clinics with expertise in ordering and interpreting CGM readings; CarbR test has been set up with sufficient medical oversight for self referrals.

  • Referral screening: by a medical doctor, to assess appropriateness of the test

  • Biometrics: because CarbR also collects weight, height and waist measurements, blood glucose interpretation can be provided in context of BMI and other key factors.

  • 14 days of a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM): tracks your glucose responses to food intake in real time.

  • Lifestyle Tracking App: log meals, exercise, and sleep patterns to see how daily habits affect your glucose response.

  • HbA1c Blood Test: this defines whether you are non diabetic, pre diabetic or type 2 diabetic

  • Lipid Panel: Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol and ratio which are all key risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.

What do you need to complete the CarbR test?

  • Before we can accept and process your order, you will need to complete our online CarbR Eligibility form. We will then pass the form to your chosen medical clinic for the medical team to confirm whether this test is appropriate. Once approved, we will then email you with next steps. If it is deemed not to be the right test, we will provide you with a written explanation and refund you in full.

What happens once my CarbR Eligibility Form has been accepted?

  • Your order will be processed and either an appointment arranged for your to attend a test centre or the CarbR test kit will be dispatched to your delivery address.

  • Where home delivery is specified, your kit arrives with everything you need: CGM sensor, TAP device and blood bottle, tape measure and QR code to download our tracking app.

  • You will then be asked to complete a Personal Health Profile form, which takes down important information to aid with our reporting process.

  • Your Lab Test- Follow the instructions to complete the TAP micro blood test for HbA1c. Return the sample to our partnering lab.

  • Set Up Your CGM & Start Tracking- The CGM sensor is located onto your arm (painlessly and discreetly), synced with our app, and begins recording your glucose levels automatically. Use the app’s food log and activity tracker to capture your habits throughout the week.

  • Report: after we process your CGM data, a medical expert will examine your health questionnaire, HbA1c and prepare a medical report with recommendations alongside the CGM and lab results.
